Long story short
A transmission for high-performance vehicles has to withstand extreme loads, year after year, and proving that requires a test facility that is just as demanding as the component it tests. Anyone who drives such a car rarely thinks about what happens inside the transmission, until something goes wrong. That is why a transmission has to have proven its reliability before it reaches a car. The faster you test it, the sooner a new design can hit the road. TREMEC, a manufacturer of high-performance transmissions, wanted exactly that kind of facility.
What does this mean for you?
Are you testing components that already operate at the edge of what’s feasible? CTRL engineering designs and builds test facilities that are at least as demanding as the component they test.
The challenge
That facility had to validate transmissions under extreme conditions: torques above 900 Nm at speeds above 10,000 rpm, shift times with microsecond precision, thermal performance under prolonged heavy load, and high-quality real-time data on voltage, vibration and efficiency.
Our approach
CTRL engineering designed and built advanced test benches capable of handling extreme torques and speeds, with a standardized and consistent test methodology for every component, from clutches to valves. Real-time data on voltage, vibration and efficiency makes it possible to catch problems early, before they show up in practice.
“We have been working as one team, and that's the key element!”
The result
Early detection and resolution of potential problems, faster validation cycles for quicker design iterations, better insight into vibration, thermal behavior and efficiency, and a stronger position for TREMEC in the high-performance transmission market.
